Photo Finish for Blue Donkey at Newmarket Racecourse

Sureya Landini, Managing Director of Blue Donkey Intelligent Telemarketing clinched victory in the race for the 2004 East of England Business Woman of the Year last night in Newmarket. She was crowned with the prestigious regional award at the Institute of Directors' Gala Dinner at Newmarket Racecourse.

The awards, now in their 15th year aim to recognise the contribution of women to the regions' economic development and to celebrate their success. There are two categories for entry. The Enterprise award is aimed at smaller, growing businesses with the main award presented for larger turnover managed businesses or corporations.

Sureya was last year's Enterprise Award winner and this year was nominated for the main award. A reluctant participant, she was delighted to reach the final stage of the contest at first attempt, finding herself up against three strong candidates.

Blue Donkey was established by Sureya Landini in1997 from nothing. Now the business turns over in excess of £1m and employs over 30 staff at its headquarters in Soham, providing its unique brand of "intelligent telemarketing" services to blue chip clients nation-wide, including businesses in this region.

"I am ecstatic and deeply touched at receiving this award especially in the face of still competition against three other deserving candidates." commented Sureya. "However, it's all down to team effort" she added "I am delighted to be associated with and represent the telemarketing industry, where we see client businesses grow as a direct result of our involvement. A "by-product" of winning the award for Sureya is her entry to and chance to win the national Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year Award later this year. This is in addition to a range of prizes she received including floral tributes, champagne and the services of a business mentor.
